Volunteers Are Our Heroes
In a way, every member of IRP Detroit is a volunteer since IRP Detroit is a collaborative organization. As peer learners, all members are expected to share their life-long expertise and experience with others. As members, we can be a powerful force in transforming each other’s lives through interactive educational and cultural experiences. And members are all encouraged to volunteer and take part in the planning, implementation and growth of IRP Detroit programs and activities.
At its core, IRP Detroit offers an array of interest groups that meet year-round and are sustained by members. Broadly named interest groups with discussions, presentations and applied activities are facilitated by teams of individual member volunteers. Each group may highlight a different topic every meeting, stay on a topic for weeks, or be free-form sessions. Members can also arrange pop-up presentations and bring in expert speakers. As facilitators and co-facilitators, our members are empowered to launch new interest groups and to keep the legacy interest groups active and dynamic.
Along with our ongoing interest groups, IRP Detroit looks to members with ideas and contacts to propose and plan attractive events and programs, with venues ranging from home hospitality to hosting and attending community-wide events, and charitable community service.
We always welcome new ideas for interest groups, lectures, programs and activities.
